HR Models & Services

One of the questions I’m asked most often, especially by founders scaling from 20 to 100 employees, is: “How do we get proper HR support without hiring a full-time HR director?”
The good news is that the HR profession has evolved to offer several models that sit between “no HR” and “a permanent hire you’re not yet ready for.” Understanding the differences between them will help you choose the right fit for where your business actually is right now.
A fractional HR professional works with your business on an ongoing, part-time basis, typically a set number of days per month, structured over a sustained period (usually six months or more). This is ideal when you need:
The fractional model gives you the intellectual horsepower of a CHRO or HR Director at a fraction of the cost of a full-time executive hire. For context, a full-time senior full time HR hire in Dubai costs in ball park of AED 25,000-45,000 per month before visa, benefits, and overheads.
An interim HR professional steps into a defined role for a specific period, typically to cover a vacancy, maternity or military leave, manage a business transformation, or lead a specific HR initiative such as a restructure or HRIS implementation. This model is right when:
Interim HR is often faster to deploy and more focused than a permanent hire, and it allows you to define scope without long-term commitment.
Project-based HR is exactly what it sounds like, engaging an HR specialist for a defined scope of work with a clear deliverable. Examples include:
This is the most accessible entry point for businesses that have specific, identified needs but are not yet ready for an ongoing retainer.
| Your Situation | Recommended Model |
| Scaling from 20-80 employees, no HR function yet | Fractional HR (ongoing strategic support) |
| Permanent HR Manager just left, need cover | Interim HR (defined tenure) |
| Need contracts, handbook, and policies written | Project-Based HR |
| Planning a restructure or change programme | Interim or Fractional HR |
| One-off compliance review or audit | Project-Based HR |
| Growing to 50+ employees with Emiratisation targets | Fractional HR (strategic and operational) |
The right answer depends on the complexity, urgency, and duration of what you need, and the best starting point is usually an honest 30-minute conversation about where the gaps are.
If you’re reading this and thinking, “Yep, that’s me”, you don’t have to keep carrying it alone. Book your first appointment for focused support and begin seeing a real shift.

Five years of building something that, when I started it in 2021, felt both enormously clear in purpose and genuinely uncertain in execution. I had nearly three decades of HR experience across the UK and GCC. I had seen large corporate HR done well and […]

But the conversation that most UAE SME founders actually need is not “will AI replace HR?” It’s “where can AI help us right now, what do we need to […]
Read moreIntroduction Emiratisation is no longer a large-corporate compliance exercise. As of 2026, it directly affects businesses with as few as 20 employees, and the financial consequences of non-compliance are significant. Yet in my conversations with UAE SME founders and operations managers, Emiratisation is still frequently misunderstood, either treated as a box to tick or, […]

It is the core capability that determines whether a leader can actually lead. Yet in my work with businesses across the UAE, I see cultural […]

Working in the UAE is genuinely extraordinary, the opportunity, the pace, the ambition, the diversity. But it […]
Read moreIntroduction Few topics generate more confusion, and more disputes, in UAE workplaces than end-of-service gratuity. Employees often don’t know what they’re entitled to. Employers often miscalculate it. And both parties sometimes discover the gap only at the moment of exit, when the working relationship has already ended. Let’s fix that. What Is End-of-Service Gratuity? End-of-service […]

That is luck, and luck runs out. The UAE’s employment law landscape has evolved significantly in recent years, and […]

It’s a belief I’ve held for nearly three decades of working in HR across the UK and GCC, that how you treat your people is not separate from business performance. It is business performance. Too often, […]
